PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
