From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
