In a bizarre crossover event that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations resonate through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine group.

The mission concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Additional Features

Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
